Filament City Media is the hub of great family-driven entertainment for all ages. From Captain FlashLight to Boy + Dog, and from inspiring books to puppet videos and performances, we have the kind of exciting materials people trust to deliver memorable, faith-based experiences.
Created by Rod Butler, Filament City Media was founded in 2008 as a non-profit ministry committed to “Shining God’s Light into Children’s Media.” As media in general, and children’s media in particular grows darker in worldview and content…pure, family-friendly, faith-based media is needed more than ever before.
FCM exists to obey the Lord’s command, when he instructed his disciples with the ever-relevant words, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 19:14).
Clearly, it’s time to shine!
We believe that there is one Living and True God, eternally existing in three Persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory, and that this triune God created all, upholds all and governs all.
We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the Word of God, fully inspired, without error in the original manuscripts, and the infallible rule of faith and practice.
We believe God the Father is perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit.
We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teaching, His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and His eventual personal and visible return to earth.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ.
We believe that all men are sinners by nature and choice, and are therefore, under condemnation; and that God regenerates and baptizes by the Holy Spirit those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord.
We believe in the personal and visible return of Jesus Christ and the consummation of His Kingdom, in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment and eternal blessing of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked.
We believe these truths demand a personal response which can result in a transformed life.
Rod Butler
Rod Butler grew up listening to the snapping of the typewriter as his father, John K. Butler wrote screenplays for Roy Rogers movies and TV shows such as 77 Sunset Strip and Death Valley Days. Though John passed away when Rod was nine years old, the writing bug had bitten and Rod would go on to write, filling up books with poetry and stories, and eventually writing for television, print, online, and radio.
Rod’s radio career includes writing and hosting the nationally syndicated Coconut Hut Radio Show as Bongo Rod. He produced the animated series Boy + Dog for Daystar TV and Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), and has written hundreds of educational scripts for Responsive Ed.
Rod is also a children’s minister and a professional puppeteer. He and his wife, Jeri, have three grown children, who have also been bitten by the writing bug.
